Research Faculty: Applications for non-tenure track research faculty position at Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level are invited in fields of Applied Superconductivity and Fabrication of Thin Film High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) Tapes. Applied Superconductivity includes design and development of HTS tapes, wires, coils, cables, and magnets to meet application requirements for electrical, mechanical, thermal, and dielectric properties. A strong experimental research background as well as simulation/modeling experience is required. Applicants need to have demonstrated experience in projects driven by milestones and deliverables. Experience in developing materials science and engineering solutions to meet technical performance targets is highly preferred. Skills in equipment design and engineering are preferred. Details of equipment design and engineering responsibilities are provided in the staff position description below. Proposal development experience is required. Ideal candidates will have identified funding opportunities and developed proposal ideas and done preliminary research to target those opportunities.
Post-doctoral Researcher: Applications for post-doctoral researchers are invited in fields of Applied Superconductivity; Fabrication and Testing of Thin Film High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) Tapes; Epitaxial Materials Growth; Metal Additive Manufacturing; Batteries. A strong experimental research background is required. Simulation/modeling experience to guide experimental research is desirable. Experience in projects driven by milestones and deliverables and in developing materials science and engineering solutions to meet technical performance targets is highly preferred. Skills in equipment design and engineering are preferred. Details of equipment design and engineering responsibilities are provided in the staff position description below.
Design, Equipment Engineering Staff: Applications are invited for staff for following responsibilities:
- Design of innovative equipment for thin film deposition – both new equipment and upgrades to existing equipment. A strong expertise in SolidWorks is required.
- Develop, maintain, modify software for control of process and test equipment and for data acquisition.
- Construct, maintain, repair and upgrade thin film process equipment and test equipment.
Ph.D. Graduate Research Assistants: Applications for Ph.D. GRAs are invited in the fields of Applied Superconductivity; Fabrication and Testing of Thin Film High Temperature Superconductor (HTS) Tapes; Epitaxial Materials Growth; Roll-to-roll Manufacturing. Successful applicants will have demonstrated creativity and problem-solving skills in their Masters’ research and preferably published their work. Successful applicants will have done their homework on gaining a strong understanding of research activities in our group and have passion to pursue research in one or more of the fields listed above.
M.S. Research Assistants: Applications are sought for non-thesis Masters Research Assistants to support Ph.D. GRAs in their research. Typical work of Masters RAs involve hands-on fabrication and testing of superconductor tapes using state-of-the-art equipment described in this website. Commitment to quality and timeliness is important.
Undergraduate students: Undergraduate students interested in the research topics of our group are invited for conducting design, engineering and testing projects in collaboration with researchers in the group.
