- Graduates from our group are currently employed at Intel, General Electric, Argonne National Laboratory, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory.
- Two of our students served on the student boards of 2024 and 2022 Applied Superconductivity Conferences.
- Our group’s student selected as one of eight 2023 Chevron Energy Fellows among 60+ applicants.
- Two of our students received the Second Place Student Poster Awards in 2023 International Workshop on Coated Conductor for Applications.
- Our group was recognized a one of six awardees of CABLE Manufacturing Prize ($200,000 cash) from the U.S. Department of Energy in Stage 2 competition for work on advanced manufacturing of superconductors. (May 2023)
- Our students received the International-level IEEE Council on Superconductivity Graduate Study Fellowship in 2016 and 2017 (only five awarded worldwide)
- Our student won the International level Alexander Shikov Award for the best student paper at the 2016 Applied Superconductivity Conference.
- Our student received national level Golden Key Scholar award.
- Our students received “Best Ph.D. dissertation” award from the Cullen College of Engineering in 2017 and 2019.
- Our student was one of only 100 students nationwide to attend the ARPA-E Innovation Summit in 2014 and 2017.
- Our students organized the first chapter of the Materials Research Society at the University of Houston and served as the first president and vice president of the chapter. Several of our students continue leadership roles in the UH chapter of MRS.
- UH Undergraduate student who conducted research on solar cells in Prof. Selva’s lab won the best research poster award at the Emerging Researchers National Conference in STEM at Washington D.C., honors in the university wide undergraduate research day competition and the Ford Foundation scholarship.
- 102 peer-reviewed publications have been co-authored by our students since 2013. Our students are first authors in 51 of these papers.
- Our Ph.D. students were selected to present Young Scientist Plenary lectures at the International Applied Superconductivity Conference, Seattle, 2018 and the Magnet Technology Conference, Vancouver, 2019
